At MemoDate, we believe your memories are yours and yours alone. This Privacy Policy outlines how we handle your data and our commitment to maintaining a 100% private experience.
1. Data Collection & Usage
MemoDate is designed as a "Private-by-Default" application. We collect the minimum amount of data necessary to provide the service:
Calendar & Memory Data
The app stores notes, dates, friend tags, and mood selections associated with your memories. This data is used solely to display your personal memory calendar.
Media Attachments
Photos and videos you attach to memories are processed locally on your device and synced to your personal storage vault.
2. Local Storage & Cloud Sync
We use a decentralised storage architecture to ensure maximum privacy:
- Local Storage: All your memories are stored locally on your device for immediate access and offline availability.
- Google Drive Sync: If you choose to enable sync, MemoDate uses the official Google Drive API to upload your data directly to your own Google Drive account.
- Developer Access: We do NOT have access to your Google Drive, your memories, or your photos. Your data never touches our servers.
3. Device Permissions
To provide a full experience, MemoDate requires the following permissions:
- Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS): Used to send you reminders about your memories and scheduled alerts.
- Camera & Gallery: Required only when you choose to attach photos or videos to a memory.
- Internet Access: Necessary for synchronising data with your Google Drive and authenticating via Google Sign-In.
4. No Third-Party Tracking
Trust is our priority. MemoDate is ad-free and does not include any third-party tracking, analytics, or data harvesting tools. We do not sell, trade, or share your information with anyone.
5. Data Deletion
You have full control over your data. You can delete individual memories or clear all app data at any time through the app settings. Since data is synced to your Google Drive, you can also manually delete the "MemoDate" folder from your Drive to permanently remove all cloud backups.
